Christopher Ruben Studdard was born in September 1978 in Birmingham Alabama. To his family and close friends,he's Chris. But to us,he's Ruben.

Ruben made his first debut at a young age. One Sunday at church,he sang "I'm Yours,Lord". But singing wasn't his first choice,Before he went Idol,Ruben was a voice major on a football scholarship at Alabama A&M University. The "Velvet Teddy Bear" played football throughout high school and for a year in college until he left to pursue his dream of becoming a superstar. And never has looked back. Ruben is the son of two educators. He has an older brother named Kevin {after his dad}.
